Suman Debnath of Kanthal Chhari under Sabroom told the media that he knew that several celebrities like Shah Rukh Khan, Tom Cruise, Neeraj Kumar, Nicole Kidman etc purchased lands in Moon – this made him curious and he too started dreaming about buying land in the Earth’s natural satellite, Moon.
And, ultimately Suman Debnath ‘bought’ a land on Moon at Rs 6000.
But the big question is as to whether one can sell or buy plot of land in Moon or in any other heavenly body.
In fact,vthere is no price at which one would buy land on the Moon.
In order to sell something, one first has to own it, and nobody owns any portion of the Moon. Any company claiming to be able to sell you land on the Moon is lying to you. There are no exceptions.
The Outer Space Treaty of 1967 — to which all spacefaring nations are parties — essentially forbids private ownership of any part of the Moon.
Meantime, unsuspecting locals are happy with Suman who has scripted the name of Kanthal Chhari in Sabroom on the Moon.
However, according to the international treaty buying a plot of land on moon or Mars is impossible. Many believe that nothing but a cyber fraud.
