TSECL Warns Public Against Rising Recruitment Scams
Agartala Dec 16: A new spate of employment-related fraud has come to light in Tripura, as well-organized scam rings are luring jobless youth with false assurances of government appointments in return for cash.
Recent cases point to the illegal use of the Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited (TSECL) name, with victims allegedly receiving forged appointment letters after paying hefty amounts.
Officials revealed that the fraudsters have been approaching job seekers via phone calls and WhatsApp, impersonating officials or agents connected to government offices.
By pressuring candidates with urgent timelines and promises of confirmed selection, the rackets have reportedly managed to collect money from multiple individuals.
In response, TSECL released a firm public advisory, categorically stating that the organization has no involvement in any such activities.
The power utility clarified that anyone offering employment in TSECL in exchange for money is engaging in fraud and that people must remain cautious.
TSECL Managing Director Biswajit Basu also explained the legitimate recruitment process presently in progress.
He said that 4,430 applications have been received for 104 engineering positions across various disciplines.
For Manager (Electrical) Group A, 1,202 candidates applied for 24 posts, while Manager (Electrical) Group B attracted 969 applications for 58 vacancies.
In civil engineering, 1,113 applications were submitted for eight Manager (Civil) Group A posts and 661 for eight Group B positions.
Meanwhile, the mechanical stream recorded 368 applications for four Manager (Mechanical) Group A posts and 117 applications for two Group B vacancies.
Basu stressed that the selection exercise will follow a fair, transparent, and merit-driven framework.
Only those applicants who qualify in the written test by achieving the stipulated cutoff will advance to the viva voce round.
He further noted that all recruitment-related details, including exam schedules, centers, and timings, will be officially announced through newspapers and the corporation’s website.
The electricity utility has appealed to aspirants to stay alert and depend exclusively on authorized announcements.
Job seekers have been clearly advised to avoid dealing with agents, brokers, or intermediaries claiming to influence recruitment outcomes.
For verified updates, candidates have been encouraged to regularly check the official portal, [www.tsecl.in](http://www.tsecl.in).
TSECL officials reiterated that widespread awareness is the most effective safeguard against such scams.
They emphasized that caution, proper verification of information, and steering clear of suspicious offers are crucial to prevent becoming victims of employment fraud.
