State DGP Reviews Preparedness in Khowai and Dhalai

Agartala, April 2: As the battle for the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) intensifies, the state’s security apparatus has shifted into high gear.

With the hills of Khowai and Dhalai serving as critical electoral battlegrounds, Tripura’s Director General of Police (DGP), Anurag (IPS), chaired a tactical review on Thursday to ensure that the democratic process remains untainted by violence or intimidation.

The high-level meeting, held at the SP office in Khowai, brought together the operational heads of both Khowai and Dhalai districts.

The focus was clear: creating a “zero-gap” security blanket that covers everything from remote polling booths to political rallies in the sensitive interior pockets of the state.

Internal Resources over Central Fold

In a significant logistical update, the DGP confirmed that the election will be secured primarily through the state’s own forces due to unavailability of the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF).

Despite the absence of CAPF for this specific phase, the DGP expressed absolute confidence in the Tripura State Rifles (TSR) and the district police.

“There is no shortage of boots on the ground,” the DGP stated during a media briefing. “We have strategically redistributed our officers and personnel to ensure that every corner of these two districts is under constant watch.”

Neutralizing Threats: Pre-Poll Tactics

The security strategy isn’t just about the day of the ballot. A major portion of the review focused on “preventive policing.”

Targeting Anti-Socials: Intensified crackdowns on known troublemakers are already underway.

Campaign Freedom: The police have been mandated to ensure a level playing field, allowing all political parties—regardless of affiliation—to campaign without fear of obstruction.

News Analysis: The Stakes of a Peaceful TTAADC Poll

In view of recent violence reportedly unleashed by the supporters of the Tipta Motha Party (TMP) targeting the BJP, state security forces will have to effective and professional intervention to stop the miscreants.

Even as security arrangements were said to tight and adequate, attack on BJP at Kamalpur under the Dhalai district allegedly by the TMP needs to studied by top brass of the security personnel and take corrective measures if any loop-hole exist.

As the state moves toward the polling date, the emphasis remains on a “Human-Centric” approach—prioritizing the safety of the individual voter over mere institutional statistics.
