Union Minister of State for Skill Development & Entrepreneurship and Electronics & IT, Rajeev Chandrasekhar, paid a visit to the International Railway Station located at Charipara near Agartala today June 7.
During the visit, he assessed the progress of the project, which is regarded as an impressive feat of engineering. The construction of this railway station is expected to significantly reduce travel time between the North-East and Kolkata, effectively creating an economic corridor that will contribute to the growth of Tripura, the North-East region, as well as stimulate economic activities, trade, and commerce.
During his speech, Rajeev Chandrasekhar emphasized the transformative impact of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s infrastructure initiatives across India, particularly in the Northeast. He highlighted how these efforts have improved the quality of life and generated economic opportunities for the people of Tripura and the entire Northeast region.
The Minister’s visit to Tripura spanned three days, beginning on Monday, during which he engaged with various sections of society and addressed their concerns. One of his meetings was held with Sanjoy Chakaraborti, Director of Skill Development, where they discussed the ongoing skill development initiatives in the state. The conversation focused on challenges related to market linkages, capacity-building opportunities, and the government’s efforts to support self-help groups (SHGs).
Furthermore, Rajeev Chandrasekhar interacted with a group of intellectuals, sharing with them Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a developed India (Viksit Bharat) and the numerous initiatives undertaken by the government for the welfare and progress of the people. He also highlighted the government’s unwavering commitment to the development of the Northeast, contrasting the significant progress achieved in the region under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s nine-year governance with the lack of development in the pre-2014 era. He noted that the North-East region, once devoid of proper infrastructure, including roads, railways, and air connectivity, is now connected and has garnered the interest of foreign countries for engagement and collaboration.
In addition to these engagements, the Minister met with Tanuj Saha, National Secretary of the Akhil Bhartiya Safai Mazdoor Sangh, who expressed profound gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for championing the dignity of labourers.
Rajeev Chandrasekhar’s visit to Tripura provided an opportunity to assess the progress of the International Railway Station project and engage with various stakeholders to address their concerns.
