The saffron party will return to power with an absolute majority in Tripura and form a double-engine government in the State, claimed Union Minister of State Pratima Bhowmik on Sunday. She also exuded confidence that BJP’s incumbent MLA Sankar Roy will also win from the Sabroom Assembly Constituency.

Roy is pitched against CPIM State secretary and projected Chief Ministerial candidate of Left Front-Congress combine Jitendra Choudhury.  Sabroom is one of three constituencies in the State which is witnessing a two-way contest between Roy and Choudhury.

In the 2018 election, Sankar Roy defeated CPIM’s Rita Kar Majumder by 2182 votes. This time, Sankar Roy is claiming that he would win suppressing the 2018 poll margin.

Pratima Bhowmik, while expressing her views on the possible outcome of the February 16 Assembly polls during her Sabroom visit on Sunday, said, “For the atrocities committed by the Leftists, people gave the Leftists a befitting reply in 2018 polls and in 2023, BJP would secure more support from the people. The ruling party will form the double-engine government for the second time with an absolute majority. The party will win 35-40 seats”.

She also exuded confidence that Sankar Roy, the incumbent MLA of BJP, would also win his second term from the 40-Sabroom Constituency.

Echoing Bhowmik’s claim, Sankar said his victory is certain and he will win by over 2500 votes.

Pratima Bhowmik attended the listening of Modi’s ‘Mann ki Baat’ programme at the Harina area in Sabroom today. She also held intensive interactions with the party workers during her visit.

Bhowmik also offered puja at Daityeshwari Kali temple, Ram Thakur Temple and Shib bari today. Among others, incumbent MLA Sankar Roy accompanied Bhowmik during her Sabroom visit.
