Tripura Pradesh Bharatiya Janata Party refuted the involvement of party workers in damaging vehicles of Congress leaders at Bishramganj that took place on July 12 last. Congress leaders held BJP activists responsible for the vandalism.
Contradicting the claim of the Congress leaders, BJP spokesperson Nabendu Bhattacharjee said Congress leader Asish Saha submitted a list of the accused, but the accused persons are not associated with BJP.
Addressing a press conference at the state party headquarters in Krishnanagar, Bhattacharjee slammed Congress for blaming the BJP over the attack. He said, “There is no way of denying that the incident took place and it is condemnable. But that doesn’t mean the attack was unleashed by the BJP party activists or members”.
Explaining further he said, “Congress leader Asish Kumar Saha himself contacted Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha about the incident and listed a few names involved claiming they belong to BJP. The CM himself inquired with the local leaders of the party in Bisramganj area and confirmed that the names given by Asish Kumar Saha are not connected with BJP in any way”.
The spokesperson of the Tripura BJP further took a dig at the opposition CPI-M for adding fuel to the fire and supporting the allegations raised by Congress.
He further said this attempt of raising allegations by Congress and CPI-M is nothing. They are trying to tarnish the image of the ruling party and affect the growth trajectory of the state.
On being asked by the reporters about the arrest of culprits associated with the incident of attack and vandalism in Bisramganj, Bhattacharjee said the Police administration has all the information and they will take further action in this regard.
