A total of 30 students were barred from appearing in an examination due to low attendance at Maiganga Sukanta Higher Secondary (+2) School, located in the Khowai District of Tripura. The school, operating under the Vidya Jyoti project, implemented the measure on Wednesday, drawing attention statewide.

Maiganga Sukanta Higher Secondary (+2)  School, affiliated with the CBSE board under the Vidya Jyoti initiative, enforced the board’s mandatory 75% attendance requirement.

She emphasized that consistent communication had been maintained with families since the school joined the Vidya Jyoti project, yet the attendance of certain students remained almost negligible.

“To ensure educational standards and motivate students to take their future seriously, we decided to bar those with less than 50% attendance from appearing in the PT-2 examination, which began on Wednesday,” Bhattacharya said.

Sources revealed that around 30 students across classes VI to XII were affected by the decision. This step, considered a significant move within the Khowai district, has sparked widespread discussion. Many intellectuals and education advocates lauded the school’s firm stance, viewing it as a constructive approach to instill discipline and accountability among students.

The initiative by Maiganga Sukanta Higher Secondary (+2)  School has garnered considerable praise, with many regarding it as a commendable effort to uphold academic integrity and focus on students’ long-term growth. The decision is likely to make the guardians and students alert in future.
