One of the important factors for overall development is women’s empowerment in reality. Women must stay aware of all kinds of central and state government facilities, said Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb after inaugurating a four-day Milan Mela- 2022 at Fatikroy Higher Secondary School ground today.

At the beginning of the event, the Chief Minister paid floral tribute to the images of famous artists who passed away recently. Deb along with the other guests unveiled a souvenir book at the event.

The Chief Minister said the overall development of any region is impossible without women becoming financially strong. Accordingly, the state government is working on a priority basis to empower women and generate income opportunities for them. As a result, they are becoming financially independent as well as their participation in social activities is also increasing.

The initiative of 33% reservation for women will play a significant role in accelerating the step towards ensuring their respectful position in the work field. A plan has been taken to set up a 100-bedded unit for mother and child in Agartala Government Medical College. There will be a separate Help Centre for women in every Police station for delivering speedy assistance to women. Plans are there to set up two special 50-bedded hospitals for the treatment of heart diseases. Initiatives have been taken to provide loans as financial assistance for women to help them create income opportunities. About almost 3 lakh women members of Self-Help Groups have found their path to become self-dependent. Plans are there to set up Rehabilitation Centres in two districts of the state-West Tripura and North Tripura.

The Chief Minister also said the state government is working to ensure the rights of every citizen of the state with transparency. Efforts are ongoing to deliver the benefits of all government schemes till the last person of the society, rising above any kind of narrowness. The government has made plans to increase the sum of social pensions and has plans for the welfare of tea garden workers.

Development has taken up speed in every sector such as increase of items in rationing, education, health, clean drinking water etc. He also said, Prime Minister’s goal to empower women throughout the country reflects in the recent Legislative Assembly election.

MLA Sudhangshu Das at the event said, the state government is determined to build addiction-free Tripura. As sports keep the young generation away from the reach of addiction, likewise a positive initiative such as the Mela will play a vital role in continuing cultural exercises. Others present at the event were MLA Dilip Das, Sabhadhipati of Unakoti district Amalendu Das, and DM Uttam Kumar Chakma.
