XV-FC Grants Released: Rs 30.6 Cr for Tripura PRIs, RLBs and TTAADC
Agartala Jan 29: The Union Government has released the second instalment of the XV Finance Commission (XV-FC) Untied Grants for the financial year 2025–26 to Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs) and Rural Local Bodies (RLBs) including TTAADC in Tripura, aiming to reinforce grassroots governance and address area-specific development requirements. Andhra Pradesh and Maharastra too received the grant.
In the case of Tripura, an amount of Rs 30.6 crore has been released as the second tranche of Untied Grants for FY 2025–26. This funding covers all 606 eligible Gram Panchayats, 35 eligible Block Panchayats, eight eligible Zilla Parishads, 587 eligible Village Committees, 40 eligible Block Advisory Committees and one eligible TTAADC Headquarters. Additionally, Rs85 lakh from the withheld portion of the first instalment of Untied Grants for FY 2025–26 has also been disbursed to one more eligible TTAADC Headquarters.
For Andhra Pradesh an amount of Rs. 41,076 lakhs (Rs. 410.76 Crores) has been released as the second instalment of Untied Grants for FY 2025–26. The funds will benefit 13,092 eligible Gram Panchayats, 650 eligible Block Panchayats and all 13 eligible District Panchayats in the State.
For Maharashtra, the Union Government has released Rs. 71,432 lakhs (Rs. 714.32 Crores) under the second instalment of XV FC Untied Grants for FY 2025–26. These grants will cover 26,407 eligible Gram Panchayats, 15 eligible Block Panchayats and 2 eligible Zilla Parishads across the State.
These Untied Grants are to be utilised by PRIs and RLBs to meet location-specific priority needs under the 29 subjects listed in the Eleventh Schedule of the Constitution, excluding expenditure on salaries and other establishment-related costs.
The Tied Grants can be used for the basic services of (a) sanitation and maintenance of ODF status, and this should include management and treatment of household waste, and human excreta and fecal sludge management in particular and (b) supply of drinking water, rainwater harvesting and water recycling.
The Government of India, through the Ministry of Panchayati Raj and the Ministry of Jal Shakti (Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation), recommends the release of XV-FC grants to states for PRIs and RLBs, following which the Ministry of Finance releases the funds. The grants are sanctioned and disbursed in two instalments during each financial year.
