Tripura emerged as the overall champion in both the under-17 boys’ and girls’ yoga events at the 67th National School Games held in Agartala.
The competition ended on Monday with Tripura on top of the medal tally. In the individual event, Tripura won the first, second, and third places in girls’ yoga.
Tripura achieved a significant milestone by winning three medals in the individual event, including gold, silver, and bronze. However, the state failed to win any medals in the rhythmic yoga category for girls. Despite this, Tripura has set a new record of success in the under-17 boys’ and girls’ yoga championship at the 67th National School Games.
A total of 342 competitors from 26 states and union territories took part in the 5-day event. On Monday, the final day of the competition, Tripura’s Subhradip Bhumik won the gold medal in the rhythmic yoga category for boys’.
West Bengal’s Rajdip Dalal and Maharashtra’s Aryan Bhvishyan Kharat won the silver and bronze medals respectively. In the girls’ category, CISCE’s Naysa Sarkar won the gold medal, Tamil Nadu’s Oviya C won the silver, and Delhi’s Seema Neupane won the bronze medal. In the individual yoga event for boys, Tripura’s Debarpan Kundu won the gold medal. Delhi’s Aadarsh and CISCE’s Samayik Panda won the silver and bronze medals respectively.
In the individual girls’ category, Tripura’s Payel Das won the gold, Pratibha Sinha won the silver, and Susmita Debnath won the bronze medal. In the overall championship, Tripura won the gold medal with 48 points, West Bengal won the silver medal with 15 points, and Delhi won the bronze medal with 11 points.
The five-day National School Games Yoga Championship concluded with a colorful ceremony during which the Sports Minister, Tinku Roy, presented prizes to the winners in the presence of other guests. The organizers of the event, the State Youth Affairs and Sports Department, expressed their gratitude to all those involved. The Chief Minister, Dr. Manik Saha, had inaugurated the event on November 23rd.
Tripura won 10 medals including seven Gold, two Silver and one Bronze topping the medal tally.
