Youths of Tripura are emerging as job providers utilizing their innovative ideas in conjunction with Government assistances available now to become self-reliant. The Government is working on fostering Self Help Groups (SHGs) in the State to create a Rs 10 thousand crore economy within next five years. Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb said while addressing a Swanirbhar Camp at Bishalgarh on Saturday.
Camp was organized by the Sepahijala district administration and Punjab National Bank at Bishalgarh Higher Secondary School. At the beginning, Deb visited the stalls opened by the banks and insurance companies.
Addressing the programme, the Chief Minister said that as many as 24,000 new SHGs were formed in the state through Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission (TRLM) during the past three and half years. He said the number of SHGs in Tripura was only 4000 during the 25-year regime of the previous government.
He said the people of the state were not much familiar with the concept of ‘self-reliance’ before formation of the BJP-IPFT government. Now, the BJP-IPFT government is working with the goal of making every people ‘swanirbhar’.
In the programme, the members of 42 SHGs were given loans of Rs. 1.30 crore while 60 families covered under Kisan Credit Card were given Rs. 1,50,000. Besides, the beneficiaries under the Fisheries, Forest and Horticulture departments were also given assistance.
MLA Subhash Das, MLA Birendra Kishore Debbarma, Sepahijala Zilla Sabhadhipati Supriya Das Dutta, District Magistrate, Sepahijala- Viswashree B, Tripura Khadi Board chairman Rajib Bhattacharjee, and other officials were present in the programme.
Meanwhile, the Chief Minister on Saturday attended a party meeting in Bishalgarh mandal office where he said Karyakartas are the main strength of Bharatiya Janata Party. He said this while encouraging the party workers ahead of the civic body polls.
