YTF Rally Triggers Law and Order Concerns in Krishnapur
Agartala Dec 15: A wave of political tension gripped the Uttar Maharani area under Mungiakami Block in Tripura’s Krishnapur Assembly constituency following a protest march organized by the Tipra Motha youth wing, the Youth Tipra Federation (YTF).
The demonstration, which was reportedly conducted with prior police permission, allegedly escalated into a volatile situation, raising serious questions over law and order and administrative oversight.
According to local sources, the protest march moved in a planned manner towards the under-construction residential property of Tribal Welfare Minister Bikash Debbarma at Uttar Maharanipur.
During the course of the demonstration, a section of protesters allegedly entered the minister’s premises and attempted to halt the ongoing construction work. The sudden escalation created an atmosphere of panic at the site.
Eyewitnesses said labourers engaged in construction were gripped by fear as tensions flared unexpectedly. Concerned for their safety, the workers fled the premises, forcing an immediate and temporary suspension of the construction work. The incident has since drawn sharp political reactions and public concern.
Meanwhile, YTF supporters countered the allegations by claiming that the protest intensified after a Tipra Motha supporter, identified as Shankar Debbarma, was allegedly injured in an attack by BJP workers in the Chakmaghat area. They maintained that the march was a response to this incident and was further driven by allegations concerning Minister Bikash Debbarma’s property.
Despite the march being organized with police approval, the episode has sparked widespread debate over how protesters were able to enter the minister’s residential compound and disrupt construction activities. The effectiveness of police deployment and administrative monitoring has come under scrutiny, with many questioning whether adequate preventive measures were in place to maintain law and order.

The presence of police personnel at the site, coupled with reports of protesters entering private property, halting construction work, and workers fleeing in fear, has intensified criticism regarding the police’s role in managing the situation. Legal experts and political observers have emphasized the need for a thorough review of security protocols during politically sensitive demonstrations.
The incident has triggered intense political speculation across Tripura, with rival parties trading accusations and demands for accountability. As the situation continues to unfold, political circles and the general public alike are closely watching the next steps to be taken by the administration to prevent further escalation and restore normalcy.
