Tripura has emerged as the leading state in the Northeast Region (NER) regarding its exceptional performance in the National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme (NTEP).
Among the medical colleges in the northeastern region, both of Tripura’s medical colleges have achieved remarkable success in implementing the National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme (NTEP).
A meeting of the Zonal Task Force (ZTF) was conducted in Guwahati on Tuesday to evaluate the performances of government-run and private medical colleges in the Northeastern region regarding the implementation of the NTEP.
Various criteria were taken into consideration for the assessment, and Tripura was declared as the best-performing state in the Northeastern region.
Terming it a ‘Proud Moment’, NTEP Tripura took to Twitter and announced, “Tripura has been declared as the top state in the NE Zone for the performance of Medical Colleges in NTEP for the year 2022. The STF members attended the ZTF meeting in Guwahati. We extend our sincere gratitude to the State Authority, CTD, Faculty members of Medical colleges, NTEP Team, WHO, and DPs.”
Agartala Government College (AGMC) and GBP Hospital, along with Tripura Medical College (TMC), were recognized as the best-performing institutions in five different parameters of the NTEP in 2022.
In today’s meeting of the Zonal Task Force (ZTF) at Guwahati, Professor of AGMC and GBP Hospital specialist in Microbiology Dr Tapan Majumder, Dr Shiv Shekhar Dutta of the AGMC and State officer of the NTEP Dr Nupur Debbarma and Consultant of the World Health Organization (WHO) Dr Sanjib Jha were present.
It is worth mentioning that a few days ago, Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, along with Agartala Mayor Dipak Majumder, launched the TB Mukt Panchayat initiative. This initiative also received accolades from the Union Ministry of Health. Through the TB Mukt Panchayat initiative, the Chief Minister urged everyone to join the battle against TB and work towards achieving a TB-free India by 2025.
The initiative aims to create awareness, mobilize resources, and implement effective strategies to combat tuberculosis in the state.
The commendable performance of Tripura in the NTEP among the NER states, along with the successful implementation of the TB Mukt Panchayat initiative, showcased the state’s dedication and efforts in eradicating tuberculosis.
The collaborative efforts of the state authority, medical college faculty members, NTEP team, WHO, and other stakeholders have played a crucial role in achieving this significant milestone.
The success in the NTEP came close on the heels of Dr Saha’s recent laudable presentation in the Niti Aayog meeting pertaining to the implementation of various Central schemes.
