In view of menacing Covid rage, the Tripura Government has announced a significant welfare scheme – Mukhyamantri Balya Seva Yojana. Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb announced the scheme in Agartala on Saturday.
Under the scheme, State Government would ensure proper education facilities for such helpless children till they attain 18 years and would arrange Laptops or tablets for Higher Secondary students. If any such children decide to stay back with their close relative, each of them would get a monthly allowance of Rs 3500 till they become 18 years old. Moreover, a onetime financial assistance of Rs 50,000 would be provided under the scheme for marriage of such a girl child aged above 18 years.
Addressing a press conference in Agartala, Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb announced the new welfare scheme today to ensure that future of such children does not plunge into darkness.
Detailing the scheme, the Chief Minister said, “The State Government would take responsibility of education of such Children who have been orphaned due to Corona”.
Deb further said, “The State Government will shoulder full responsibility of those who will stay at Orphanages. However, if any orphan child opts to stay with his/her close relatives, the Government will pay them a monthly allowance of Rs 3500 to each of them till they attain the age of 18 years. In addition, the Government would make arrangements for their education.”
Another important feature of the scheme focuses on marriages of orphan girl children. In this connection, Deb said, under the scheme, the Government would pay Rs 50,000 as one-time assistance.
Continuing about Government’s help for proper education of such helpless children, Deb said the State Government, under the Mukhyamantri Balya Seva Yojana, would provide laptops or tablets to such children who successfully complete Madhyamik and get admission in Higher Secondary classes.
He reiterated that the Government had introduced the scheme keeping in mind the future of helpless children who would lose their parents due to Covid.
However, the Chief Minister made a point clear – “I would sincerely pray to the Mata Tripureswari that not a single child of the State meet such an unfortunate thing. Notwithstanding, if any child becomes orphan due to the Covid, the State Government would firmly stand behind the child”, he commented.
