Govt forms panel to tackle Covid infection among kids
With Covid spike in State is unabated and children are getting infected in the State. the Tripura Government has formed a 4-member paediatric committee on the COVID19 infection among the children.
The decision came as the state recently saw Covid infection among 36 children of two orphanages of the capital city. Education minister Ratanlal Nath announced the paediatric committee in a press conference on Friday.
Medical Superintendent of AGMC Dr. Sanjib Debbarma has been made chairman of the committee. The three other members are- Dr. Jayanta Ray, Dr. Amitabha Chakraborty and Dr. Bhaskar Majumder.
75K Covishield doses arrive
Bolstering battle against the menacing Covid 2.0, A Kolkata- Agartala Air India fight has ferried a consignment of 75,000 Covishield doses to Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport, Agartala.
“Today a consignment of 75K doses of Covishield vaccine arrived at MBB Airport, Agartala from Kolkata by Airindia flight for the State of Tripura. All support were given by AAI & Airlines staff for the quick transition of the Vaccine. Big boost for the fight against COVID-19,” a tweet from MBB Airport’s official handle said.
On Vax status, Education minister Ratanlal Nath said, “As the state government pushed an aggressive vaccination drive, 15,34,142 doses have already been administered – 10,27,399 people have received the first dose while the second dose has been given to 5,06,743 people,”
As the COVID19 cases are rising continuously, the overall situation is being monitored closely and steps are being taken to contain the spread of the deadly coronavirus, an official said.
An official report said, Tripura has recorded the highest single-day count of Covid tests during the past 24 hours.
Tests of as many as 11,438 samples have been conducted in the past 24 hour. Among them, 863 samples have tested positive while two more Covid deaths have been reported taking the death toll to 454. Besides, 332 patients have recovered. Now, the figure of active cases stands 6473, the report said.
First Black Fungus case reported in a Pvt Hosp
Even as the State is grappling with Covid surge, first case of Black Fungus or Mucormycosis infection was reported in Agartala based private hospital on Friday. Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath said, “A 68-year-old woman has been identified to be infected with the Black Fungus. She is now under treatment at a private hospital.”
He also said, “The Tripura Government has declared Black Fungus as notifiable disease under Epidemic Disease Act.”
According to health experts, the treatment of this fungal infection requires a multidisciplinary approach consisting of eye surgeons, ENT specialists, general surgeon, neurosurgeon and dental maxillofacial surgeon, among others, and institution of Amphotericin-B injection as an antifungal medicine.
