IPFT confident of reviving party
The Indigenous People’s Front of Tripura (IPFT), an alliance partner of the BJP government in Tripura on Tuesday showed its confidence in reviving the party ahead of the ensuing 2023 general assembly elections in Tripura.
After the party’s executive committee meeting, the IPFT state secretary and also the state, tribal welfare minister Mevar Kumar Jamatia on Tuesday held a press conference at Agartala press club and said, “The IPFT is confident of reviving the party with all the youths and other walks of life.”
“After the IPFT suffered a humiliating defeat in last year’s ADC Polls, the party is facing a bleak prospect owing as ground-level support base started to be weakened following the electoral debacle. The party leaders discussed the weaknesses and sought to address those,” adding to this Jamatia said, “We still believe and are confident enough that we shall revive our party.”
Sharing the agendas of the party’s executive committee meeting Jamatia said that the meeting also discussed the portfolios for the party members and workers.
Cong slams Govt on Common University Entrance Test issue
Tripura Pradesh Congress came down heavily on the BJP government’s decision to introduce the Common University Entrance Test for admission in general degree colleges.
Addressing a press conference, Congress leader Sudip Roy Barman criticized the Modi-led government’s alleged attempt to privatize the education sector. He urged the student community to voice their protest against the government on this issue.
Criticizing the education policy of the Government, Barman opposed the introduction of the Common University Entrance Test.
Barman said, “The BJP government is intended to deprive the local students here in our state and create scope for the outsiders through the recently announced common entrance tests for students getting admission to the general degree colleges after the higher secondary from next academic session.”
“The common university entrance test is a clear conspiracy of the BJP government against the burden of employment,” Barman said, adding that the government is restricting the students from achieving higher education.
