Security personnel conducted several anti-drug raids in different parts of Tripura and netted a total of nine persons on Saturday. Also, Police seized Brown Sugar and Yaba tablets from the arrested persons.
In Agartala, Police raided a house of one Jhutan Das at Chandrapur area and recovered Brown Sugar worth Rs 2 lakh. Along with Jhutan Das, the Police arrested two other persons – Rajesh Saha and Swapan Bhowmik – who were present in the house.
In another anti-drug operation, jawans of BSF 20 bn, led by Assist Commandant Sanjib Kumar, detained two drug traffickers from Indo-Bangla bordering village, Madhya Chandipur in Kailashar under Unakoti district on Saturday. A total of 391 Yaba Tablets and 0.26 gram Brown Sugar were seized. The detained drug dealers were Ataur Rahman and Yasin Ali. Both hail from Babur Bazar area. The detained persons and seized drugs were handed over to the Kailashahar Police station.
Police personnel of Twidu PS under Gomati District arrested three youths and seized 9 pots of Brown Sugar from them. Arrested youths were identified as Victor Jamatia (20) of Twidu Khamar Bari, Birbahadur Jamatia (19) from Singling Bari, and Bishal Kalai (26) from Twidu Kamichan Para.
During a routine vehicle checking, Police arrested one Rasel Mian of Phulbari area under Kadamtala today and seized 12-gram Heroin from him. Police booked Rasel under NDPS Act.
Bishalgarh Police along with a large posse of TSR jawans raided Chelikhala, Rangapania and other adjoining areas under Sepahijala District and destroyed ganja plants in those areas. Officer-in-Charge of Bishalgarh PS Debashish Saha told the media that around 70 thousand ganja plants were destroyed today. However, no one was arrested.
