Tripura recorded the highest number of Covid Tests and also registered the highest single-day positive cases during the last 24 hours.
The single-day count of Covid tests has touched 10,000 marks while record 879 positive cases have been detected in Tripura in the past 24 hours.
According to the daily Media Bulletin, Three persons died today in the last 24 hours. A total of 316 patients recovered. The positivity rate stands at 8.63 percent in the State as of now. Among the 879 positive cases detected today, 393 persons are from West District. North and South registered 105 new positive cases today.
Briefing media about the latest COVID19 situation, Law minister Ratanlal Nath on Wednesday said, “Tests of as many as 10,185 samples have been conducted in the past 24 hours – the figure is so far highest in the state. Among them, 879 new positive cases have been detected”.
Nath said, “A total of 1,04,453 samples have been tested across the state in the month of May till 18th. Among them, 7434 samples have tested positive for coronavirus while 52 deaths have been reported.
During this period 2,720 patients have recovered. The number of active cases stands at 5924. Among them, 5211 patients are in-home quarantine and 713 in institutional facilities,” Nath told the media.
“In the Agartala Municipal Corporation areas, tests of total of 4843 samples have been conducted between May 1 and 17 while 811 samples have tested positive,” Nath added.
Along with the ongoing vaccination drive, Tripura has geared up its preparations to vaccinate more people as the state is expected to receive more 66,000 doses by the end of May, Ratanlal Nath said.
The Minister also said that Corona Crisis Management Groups have been formed to monitor Covid situation and generate awareness among the people. Apart from the State-level Group, several Groups were formed to reach the last mile citizen of the State.
In the meantime, another consignment of 50 D-type oxygen cylinders has reached the state on Wednesday. A special flight of the Indian Air Force has carried the cylinders to Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport, Agartala.
