TIPRA Motha condemned IPFT’s call for a 24-hour strike in District Council areas on May 22 in protest against attack on IPFT supremo and Revenue Minister NC Debbarma.
TIPRA motha chairman Pradyot Kishore Debbarman on Thursday claimed that at this time of Corona, all should stay united in the battle against the pandemic instead of playing politics and he urged the IPFT leaders to withdraw the strike. Pradyot Kishore Debbarma also said the he would meet Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb relating to ongoing Covid pandemic.
After the attack on IPFT supremo, Debbarman visited Takarjala – the area where people waved black flags at NC Debbarma and raised slogan against him. Pradyot Kishore Debbarma played an instrumental role in getting one person arrested in connection with the attacks on the IPFT supremo. He also said that it was his party that expelled the disobedient supporters for inciting violence and his doors were always open for talks.
“Elections come once in five years. Scope of doing politics shall never end but now we are grappling with a pandemic. The Corona Virus is infecting people belonging to all the walks of life. We must not forget that. The politics of Bandh is not justifiable at this point of time”, said Debbarman.
According to him, the strike will harshly impact the normal way of living. The whole system will get stalled if the IPFT does not withdraw their strike. “I am appealing to the IPFT to withdraw their strike and come to the table of dialogue. Let’s come to peace. Such type of steps shall only create further trouble for the people”, he added.
On Covid 19, he said he would soon meet Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb and seek one time consolidated funds for fighting the battle against the infection. “We also want to contribute our part. If we can serve one hundred people, the load on IGM and GBP hospitals will be less. This why we will meet Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb to seek some funds”, he added. Debbarma said that if they were given a chance they would certainly help the government with positive suggestions to handle the pandemic.
