57 Tripura-Related Questions Raised in Parliament

Deb also highlighted his interventions during the recently concluded Parliament session.

He said he submitted 57 starred and unstarred questions related to Tripura. Parliament accepted 15 of these questions.

The issues covered several sectors. They included national highways, railway connectivity, education, fertilisers, natural gas, mineral resources and fisheries.

He also raised questions linked to development projects in the state.

NH Repairs Remain a Key Concern

Road infrastructure featured prominently in Deb’s remarks.

He expressed concern over the condition of several national highways in Tripura. He demanded faster repairs and better road quality.

Deb linked some of the damage to the floods that hit the state in 2024. He also alleged negligence by some contractors.

The MP argued that Tripura needs roads that can withstand difficult weather conditions and heavy use.

Push for Concrete Roads

Deb also proposed a shift from conventional bitumen roads to concrete roads for selected routes.

He said he had proposed a pilot project on the Udaipur-Amarpur road.

The MP acknowledged that concrete roads require higher initial investment. However, he argued that they could provide greater durability over time.

The proposal aims to test whether concrete construction can offer a more sustainable solution for important road corridors in Tripura.

Tourism Proposals Worth ₹170 Crore

Deb also outlined proposed tourism investments.

He said proposals worth around ₹30 crore had been submitted for tourism projects at Datteshwari Kalibari, Belonia and Jolaibari.

A separate ₹140-crore tourism project has also been proposed at Majlishpur in Jirania.

The proposals seek to expand tourism infrastructure and improve visitor facilities at important destinations.

Comprehensive Development Plan Sought for Unakoti

Unakoti also featured in Deb’s development agenda.

He said the focus should extend beyond cleaning and repairing the historic rock-cut sculptures.

The MP called for better supporting infrastructure at the site. This includes boundary walls, cafeterias, toilets, connectivity and conservation facilities.

Such facilities could improve both visitor experience and long-term preservation.

Focus on Pending Development Projects

Deb also discussed Bills passed during the parliamentary session and amendments to the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act.

He assured that he would continue working with the Centre and the state government on pending projects.

National highway works, tourism initiatives, and other development schemes remain among the areas he wants to advance.
