Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission (TRLM) and Tata Trusts are exploring a proposed five-year partnership to strengthen livelihoods and beneficiary infrastructure for rural households in three Aspirational Blocks—Dasda and Damcherra in North Tripura and Ganganagar in Dhalai—with a proposed Tata Trusts outlay of around ₹15 crore from January 2027 to November 2031.
Key Takeaways
TRLM is discussing a proposed five-year partnership with Tata Trusts for three Aspirational Blocks.
The proposed programme could involve an outlay of around ₹15 crore and support 5,000 households through direct intervention and convergence.
TRLM is also strengthening agro-ecological farming capacities and supporting women-led community institutions across Tripura.
The Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission (TRLM) is in discussions with Tata Trusts to develop a livelihood-focused programme covering three Aspirational Blocks of the state, with piggery, duckery, fishery and beneficiary infrastructure among the proposed areas of intervention.
The proposed programme would cover Dasda and Damcherra in North Tripura and Ganganagar in Dhalai district. TRLM and Tata Trusts discussed the proposed collaboration, its implementation framework and potential areas of partnership during a video conference meeting held between TRLM CEO Tarit Kanti Chakma and representatives of Tata Trusts.
The proposed programme is expected to run for five years, from January 2027 to November 2031. Tata Trusts has proposed an outlay of approximately ₹15 crore for the initiative.
The programme aims to provide direct project support to around 3,500 households. Another 1,500 households would benefit through convergence with TRLM interventions.
Piggery, duckery and fishery among focus areas
The proposed partnership will focus on livelihood activities such as piggery, duckery and fishery. It will also support beneficiary infrastructure development.
TRLM and Tata Trusts are exploring the programme with an emphasis on creating sustainable livelihood opportunities for rural households. The proposed collaboration also seeks to strengthen livelihood infrastructure and improve convergence in the three Aspirational Blocks.
If implemented as proposed, the programme would combine direct project support with existing TRLM interventions to expand livelihood opportunities among rural households.
Alongside the proposed partnership, TRLM has continued efforts to strengthen field-level capacities for sustainable farming practices.
A three-day training programme on Agro-Ecological Practices under On-Farm Livelihoods was conducted from September 29 to October 1, 2026. National Resource Persons facilitated the training.
District Coordinators (L&M – Farm) and Livelihood Coordinators – Farm from different districts participated in the programme.
The training focused on strengthening the technical knowledge and field-level capacities of participants. The programme sought to equip them to promote sustainable, climate-resilient and agro-ecological farming practices among women members of self-help groups.
The initiative adds a technical capacity-building component to TRLM’s wider focus on improving rural livelihoods through sustainable farming and community-based institutions.
TRLM’s institutional support has also featured in efforts to strengthen women-led community organisations at the local level.
Mrinmoyee Cluster Level Federation (CLF) under West Tripura district recently took steps to resolve its long-pending issue of office space. The CLF president approached the Sabhadhipati of PTZP seeking support to address the problem.
Following the initiative, the Sabhadhipati, PTZP, and MLA Kamalasagar joined the District and Block TRLM teams and CLF office bearers for a joint field visit.

The team identified a suitable location for the CLF office during the visit. Renovation work is expected to begin soon.
The development highlights how community leadership and coordination with local institutions can help address operational challenges faced by women-led organisations.
Livelihood development remains central focus
The three developments together highlight different elements of TRLM’s rural livelihood approach: proposed external partnership, technical capacity building and institutional support for community organisations.
The proposed Tata Trusts programme would bring a potential five-year investment into three Aspirational Blocks, while the agro-ecological training seeks to strengthen sustainable farming practices among women SHG members.
At the community level, the proposed office facility for Mrinmoyee CLF could strengthen the functioning of a women-led institution in West Tripura.
The proposed Tata Trusts partnership remains under discussion, with the implementation framework and areas of collaboration being explored by the two sides.
