The Tripura Gramin Bank (TGB) Vigilance Awareness Programme in Agartala highlighted the need for stronger internal systems, ethical decision-making and customer protection. Officials stressed that preventive vigilance can strengthen institutional integrity, build public confidence and support long-term organisational stability amid the bank’s ongoing three-month awareness campaign.

Tripura Gramin Bank (TGB) on Saturday stressed the need for greater integrity, transparency and accountability in banking operations as it organised a Vigilance Awareness Programme in Agartala.

The programme formed part of the Three-Month Vigilance Awareness Campaign 2026, which began on August 17 and will continue until November 16. This year’s campaign is being conducted under the theme โ€œProbity for Prosperity.โ€

Sankari Das, Secretary of the Law Department, Government of Tripura, attended the programme as the distinguished guest. Senior officials and employees of the bank were also present.

Vigilance Should Prevent Irregularities

TGB Chairman Satyendra Singh said vigilance should go beyond the detection of irregularities.

He stressed the need for a preventive approach that can identify weaknesses in existing systems and improve institutional processes. Such an approach, he said, can also encourage employees to make decisions based on ethical standards.

Singh underlined the link between transparency, accountability and public trust. He said maintaining these principles is important not only for the credibility of an institution but also for its long-term growth.

The emphasis on preventive vigilance comes as financial institutions face the continuing need to strengthen internal systems and ensure that established procedures are followed consistently.

Focus on Customer Interests

General Manager Anup Kumar Saha, while delivering the closing remarks, urged bank employees to maintain high standards of integrity in their day-to-day work.

He stressed the importance of following prescribed procedures and protecting customer interests. He also called for greater transparency and accountability in banking practices.

Saha linked the central message of the campaign to the broader functioning of the institution. He said integrity helps build trust, while trust creates confidence. In turn, confidence provides a foundation for sustainable prosperity.

Vigilance Week Scheduled for October

The ongoing campaign will reach its key observance period with Vigilance Awareness Week from October 26 to November 1.

The campaign is aimed at reinforcing awareness about ethical conduct and responsible institutional functioning among employees.

For TGB, the programme also served as a reminder that vigilance is not limited to investigating misconduct. It involves strengthening systems, ensuring accountability and maintaining public confidence in banking services.

The bank said it would continue its focus on integrity, transparency and good governance across its operations.
