Agartala, August 22, 2019: For the first time in the known history of the State, a third gender person was arrested in connection with drug trading. Teliamura Police arrested the third gender person – named Sapna Sutradhar from Maiganga area on Tuesday. Meanwhile, local youths of Ampi Choumuhani found one Rickshaw puller selling drugs – locals immediately contacted Police and Police seized 12 drug pouches from the Rickshaw puller. Police are interrogating the arrested person.
Earlier on Tuesday, with the active involvement of local people, Teliamura Police arrested Suman Das along with one third-gender person – Sapna Sutradhar while they were selling drugs at Maiganga area under Teliamura PS. Both were sent to 5-day Police remand after being produced in the Court today.
Based on long-standing allegations, Police raided the house of one Arun Das at Sukanta Palli and seized 700-liter kerosene, corex syrup, and empty drug-boxes. Arun Das managed to flee.
