Three teenage boys drowned in a pond in Badharghat’s Matripalli area, Agartala. Tripura CM Dr. Manik Saha and ministers expressed deep sorrow and assured necessary administrative action.
Agartala (Tripura), June 17: In a heartbreaking incident, three teenage boys lost their lives after drowning in a pond located in the Matripalli area of Badharghat in Agartala, on Tuesday.
The deceased have been identified as Babi Shukla Das (17), Shubham Deb (17), and Shubhajit Dey (15).
According to police reports, the tragedy unfolded while the three boys were bathing in a pond situated near the Agriculture Department office.
Upon receiving information, personnel from the Fire Service and local police, along with help from residents, immediately initiated a rescue operation. The boys were pulled out of the pond and rushed to GBP Hospital, but doctors declared them brought dead.
The shocking loss of three young lives cast a shadow of grief over the entire Badharghat locality. Residents were seen in tears and disbelief as news of the incident spread across the area.

Local MLA Mina Rani Sarkar promptly visited the site to assess the situation and console the grieving families.
Reacting to the tragic event, Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha conveyed his heartfelt condolences.
“I am deeply shocked by the untimely demise of three young lives in Matripalli. My prayers are with the families as they navigate this painful time. I have directed the administration to take all necessary measures.”
