Chief Minister Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha personally handed over a sanction letter for Rs 5 lakh to Sagar Datta Majumdar at his official residence in Agartala under the scholarship programme on December 26, 2024.

The sanction letter giving ceremony was attended by notable officials, including the Chief Minister’s Secretary, Dr. Pradeep Kumar Chakraborty, Special Secretary of the Education Department, Raval Hemendra Kumar, Director of Higher Education, Animesh Debbarma, and other officials from the Higher Education Department.

Under this initiative, candidates who pass the UPSC Civil Services Preliminary Examination and qualify for the Main Examination are eligible for a one-time scholarship of Rs 5 lakh.

Those who clear the Main Examination and qualify for the interview stage receive an additional Rs 20,000 as a scholarship for the second phase.

Eligibility for the scheme requires candidates to be residents of Tripura with a family annual income below Rs 10 lakh. Since its inception, nine UPSC aspirants from Tripura have benefited from the scheme up to the 2023-24 financial year.

Notably, Shatabdi Majumdar from Teliamura was selected as an IAS officer, and Saurab Das from Bishalgarh as an IRS officer.
