“The Bubagra is also of the same view that direct funding should be granted. If the money comes through the state, the flow of funds remains in the hands of the state. If the direct funding is made then we would not have to ask for money to the state government and wait for their whims for development activities if direct funding is implemented”, added Jamatia.

“In the TTAADC areas, vast fertile land could not be brought under the ambit of farming, the reason being lack of irrigation facilities. We want to develop irrigation so that more and more land can be used for agriculture”, said Jamatia.

According to him, a good number of schools were not getting enough attention.

“There are schools but the number of teachers is less. We shall chalk out some ways to put an impetus on the education sector”, he added.

Meanwhile, on being asked about the future course of action, chairman of TIPRA, Pradyut Kishore Debbarman said, “our priorities are set. We want clean and transparent government. I expect all of the elected members would perform their duties without thinking of the personal privileges. Education, Healthcare, sanitation and water are key areas where considerable efforts are needed to be put in and I feel all will perform their job with dedication”.

On post-poll violence, he said, in Tripura the culture of post-poll violence is inherited but all the affected families will be helped from a special fund from all elected MDCs. He said that after a thorough meeting, a White Paper on the financial transactions would be released.

Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee president Pijush Biswas and Tribal welfare minister Mevar Kumar Jamatia also attended the function and extended their wishes towards the newly elected council.

Among the executive members of the Purna Chandra Jamatia cabinet, journalist turned politician Kamal Kaloi, TIPRA GS Animesh Debbarma,, former TSP chief Chitta Ranjan Debbarma remained worth mentioning.
