Media fraternity of Tripura received a major shock as a young journalist, Tanmoy Chakraborty, associated with various regional and local media, passed away at a private hospital in Agartala on Sunday. He was suffering from serious liver-related ailments. Chakraborty is survived by his wife, five-year-old daughter, and parents.
He was admitted to GBP hospital Agartala a week earlier after he was tested positive to the Covid 19. Chakraborty was admitted at Tripura Medical College Agartala with complaints of serious abdominal pain and blood vomiting.
He recovered soon and was discharged. But, once again the health complications due to liver cirrhosis began to develop and he was rushed to ILS hospital Agartala. He slipped into a deep coma soon after. Few hours before his death, he was revived from the coma and showed response to the treatment. However, at 8:20 pm, he breathed his last.
Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb, MP Pratima Bhowmik, MP Rebati Tripura expressed grief at the sudden demise of Chakraborty. Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb also extended financial support to the bereaved family clearing the remaining hospital bills.
Apart from that, the media fraternity also expressed condolences on the sudden demise of the talented journalist. Agartala Press Club, FDPMC, Assembly of Journalists and other media organizations also expressed condolences.
Although he was known for his contribution to the field of Journalism, he was also a research scholar. Once, he also wrote for some international media houses headquartered in Bangladesh.
