The Guahati High Court has ordered preliminary CBI enquiry against Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) Chairman Rakesh Paul in alleged corruption charges. (http://www.enewstime.in/?p=919) Acting Chief Justice K. Sridhar Rao and Justice P K Saikia on Thursday instructed the CBI to submit a report in this regard in the court. The court also ordered the investigating agency to include kith and kin of Mr. Paul along with his driver in the enquiry. The court has expressed displeasure on the affidavit filed by Rakesh Paul on his property.
Notably, PIL and writ petitions have been filed against Rakesh Paul alleging that he has adopted unfair means in conducting state civil service examination. Earlier, Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi constituted an Additional Chief Secretary level enquiry to look into the 5 cases of alleged irregularities by the Commission.
