The motor drivers and transport workers’ union of Barak Valley and Tripura have decided to meet Assam CM Tarun Gogoi after Puja and demand early repairing works of NH-44 on Assam side. Notably, the National Highway in Assam part has remained in dilapidated condition for a long time. (http://www.enewstime.in/?p=942) This has affected the vehicular movement severely causing scarcity of essential commodities supply in Tripura. The situation is standing at such a point that crisis of gas and diesels will take a bad shape in Tripura. News sources claimed, after meeting with the Assam CM, the transport operators of Barak Valley and Tripura may go for joint movement to further press for restoration of NH-44 to normalcy. Transport operators alleged that they were incurring high costs and hence huge losses due to worsening condition of the National Highway.
