New Delhi July 21: The Parliamentary Advisory Committee associated with the Ministry of Women and Child Welfare recommended comprehensive training for Anganwadi workers and helpers, along with ensuring proper housing facilities for Anganwadi centers.
This appeal was made during a meeting held on Friday. Chaired by Union Minister Smt. Maneka Sanjay Gandhi, the meeting highlighted that training for Anganwadi workers and helpers would be arranged under the National Nutrition Mission, along with providing them additional facilities.
Smt. Gandhi informed the MPs about various government schemes for women’s welfare and recent significant initiatives. She discussed the Health Phone system, the establishment of One-Stop Centers in all states to provide comprehensive support to women affected by violence, and programs like appointing special police officers to curb crimes against women in rural areas under the ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ initiative.
She urged MPs to encourage state governments to reserve 33% of police force positions for women.
Additionally, she announced that, with the support of the Ministry of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, 50,000 new Anganwadi centers will be established across the country within the next year.
The meeting was attended by MPs including Smt. Pratima Mondal, Smt. Biplab Thakur, Smt. R. Banaroja, Smt. Kanak Lata Singh, Smt. Priyanka Singh Rawat, and Smt. Bimla Kashyap Shud, among others.
