September 29, 2017: In relation to murder of TV reporter Shantanu Bhowmik in Agartala, Tripura Government announced members of Special Investigation Team (SIT). Inspector General (IG), TSR and Training GS Rao (IPS) will lead five-member SIT to probe into Bhowmik’s murder allegedly by Tripura Tribal based Party –IPFT on September at Mandai while he was covering a clash between CPIM and IPFT.
After recently held State Cabinet meeting, Government announced its decision to form SIT to probe into the murder and declared financial assistance of worth Rs 10 lakh to bereaved family of Bhowmik.
Four other members of the SIT are DIG (CID) Uttam Majumder, Additional SP (West) Kishore Debbarma, CID Inspector Prithwish Bhattacharjee and Inspector Nityananda Sarkar.
