October 02, 2017: A delegation of BJP Parliamentary Party will visit Tripura after Laxmi Puja to assess prevailing law and order conditions of the State in the wake of recent CPIM-IPFT clashes and murder of young reporter Shantanu Bhowmik. State BJP president Biplab Deb stated this today in Agartala while addressing a press conference. He informed the media persons that he had written a letter detailing about violence and arsons that erupted after CPIM-IPFT clashes on September 19 at various places in the State. He said that the delegation would submit a report to the Union Home Ministry on law and order condition after having a thorough investigation and accordingly the Ministry would decide next course of action.
Speaking on alliance with INPT, Biplab said, the issue will be addressed by North East Development Alliance (NEDA) and he ruled out any pre-poll alliance with IPFT as of now. Notably, while the prime demand of IPFT is creation of a separate State for tribal people of the State, INPT demanded further empowerment of Autonomous District Council. Earlier, BJP leaders mentioned that the would convert District Council into a more powerful body, howver, categorically rejected IPFT’s demand for separate State.
Pointing at disappearance of a passenger van driver – Jiban Debnath on September 20, he stated that he had written to Shah about Jiban Debnath who was ‘kidnapped’ in day time from Khumlung by some miscreants. He said, police administration failed to know whereabouts of Jiban Debnath so far. “No one from the State Government – DM and SDM – visited the house of Jiban so far and inquired about the family”, he alleged. After visiting Jiban Debnath’s residence at Dukli, BJP State president alleged, “Jiban Debnath hails from an Antodyay Family. He was a member of drivers’ organization under CITU, but neither CITU leaders nor any other Ministers visited Jiban’s place so far and inquired about dire situation that the family is undergoing”.
