October 15, 2017: Eyeing to garner farmers’ vote, BJP made lofty promises during last Lok Sabha Polls, however it miserably failed to fulfil its promises, said MP Jitendra Chaudhury today in Agartala.
Addressing a state-level convention jointly organized by trade unions and several mass organizations at Agartala Town Hall toda, Chaudhury said, “Even though over 70 per cent of the countrymen are dependent on agriculture, the Modi-led Government is not paying necessary attention to plights of the Indian farming community. Investment in agriculture sector is not improving and overall condition of agriculture sector is depressing putting huge burden on farmers.” He also referred to growing incidences of farmers’ suicide.
Calling for policy corrections, he demanded, “Centre should take initiatives so that the farmers proper value of their produces,” he said.
Lashing out at BJP-led Government , he alleged, anti-people policies of BJP government affected the economic condition of the country. The Modi-led government has failed to control price rise and reduce unemployment. Moreover, the Central Government failed to curb atrocities on women and backward communities. He also criticized Centre’s demonetization move.
Transport minister Manik Dey and MP Jitendra Chaudhury among others also attended the convention. Besides, a large number of representatives from various trade unions and mass organizations remained present. The joint convention was held to protest various ‘anti-people’ policies of BJP government.
