October 16, 2017: Taking a cue from CPIM MP Jitendra Choudhury, State BJP vice president Subal Bhowmik expressed displeasure at role of the Police during recent violence and demanded resignation of the Home Minister cum Chief Minister Manik Sarkar accepting moral responsibility of failure of Police administration.
“Jitendra Choudhury himself raised fingers decrying role of State Police forces. In the wake of this allegation, Manik Sarkar should step down accepting moral responsibility”, Bhowmik said while addressing a press conference today in Agartala.
Saying the Party will unleash campaign in full swing from mid-November, he announced that All India BJP president Amit Shah would visit the State during mid-November and December. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hit campaign trails in two phases after EC announces Assembly Poll schedule, Bhowmik said.
Meanwhile, All India general secretary Ram Madhav today arrived in Agartala in whirlwind one-day tour. He was supposed to be accompanied by NEDA chairman cum Assam Finance Minister Hemant Biswa Sharma. However, Biswa Sharma skipped the tour because of some emergent engagements, Party sources said.
