October 29, 2017: Unabated farmers’ suicide, unprecedented atrocities on Dalits and rising unemployment – the trident wielded by Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar against the Modi led Government today in Agartala. Lasing out at BJP Government for upsurge in unemployment across the country, Sarkar said BJP government has totally failed to fulfill its promises including two crore jobs per year. Moreover, the central government has stopped recruitment in all sectors.
Addressing a mass rally organized by Tripura Tapashili Jati Samannay Samity at Astabal ground on Sunday, he said the present central government did not take any effective plan for recruitment in the vacant posts till now although the unemployment rate is rapidly increasing in all parts of the country. Tripura Tapashili Jati Samannay Samity is the SC/ST wing of ruling CPIM.
On Sunday, Agartala witnessed an impressive rally organized by the Samity in protest against BJP government’s anti-people policies, price rise and atrocity on dalits among other issues. Thousands of ruling party supporters including a large number of women joined the rally in support of formation of eighth Left Front government.
In fact, whole country is undergoing economic slowdown due to under performances of manufacturing sector and agricultural sector. According to economists, including former Governor RBI, demonetization made the situation worse. Considered by many as twin blow – demonetization and implementation of GST have created further ripple in the already disturbed sectors.
Referring to prevailing condition of the economy, Manik Sarkar pointed out to plights of the farmers and commented, farmers’ suicide remained unabated. Adverse economic condition coupled with poor performance in the country’s Agricultural sector have cast negative effect. In every part of the country, farmers’ are raising voice against anti-farmer policies of the BJP Government. In contrast, Tripura – though a small State, there is no incidence of farmers’ suicide.
Stressing on peaceful co-existence of different communities in Tripura, CM Sarkar said, a section is trying to break the inter-community unity. He urged people to remain alert and thwart disruptive forces. In this connection, he also mentioned about atrocities on Dalits and other backward communities elsewhere in the country.
