CPI-M candidate has emerged victorious in Amarpur By-election in Tripura today. News sources report, Parimal Debnath of CPI-M has beaten his nearest rival of BJP by 10783 votes. Debnath has got 20355 votes which is 6000 more than previous election. BJP managed to secure only 9754 votes.
Notably, the by-election held after ruling CPI-M party suspended its sitting MLA Manoranjan Acharjee and ousted from the Party. Acharjee was accused of molesting a minor girl. The by poll was held on Feb 14 and more than 87% votes were cast.
