In Assam, Union Railway Minister Suresh Pravakar Prabhu will flag off a special train “Purvottar Samparka Kranti” from Silchar today. The train will facilitate passengers to travel to New Delhi. The Minister will also give green signal for two goods trains, one to Agartala in Tripura and the other to Jiribam in Manipur. After the introduction of daily train from Silchar to Guwahati on November 21 last year, people of Barak Valley have been pressing for long distance trains to connect with Kolkata and New Delhi. Accordingly, Kanchanjanga Express was introduced on the 1st of this month. The new train is considered to be yet another move of the Central government to respond to the aspirations of the people in the valley.
