Meghalaya police has sought 12 additional companies of central paramilitary forces and six units of CoBRA battalion for its operation against militants in the Garo Hills region. Police spokesman GHP Raju said that the combat operation code-named ‘Hillstorm 3’ will also be extended by another three months.

Special Force-10 Commandos, who are under intense commando training in jungle warfare, will also be inducted for special operations against the militants in Garo Hills. Operation Hillstorm- 3 was launched by the Meghalaya Police on the 24th of February in the Garo Hills and West Khasi Hills districts of the state. As many as four GNLA camps were busted, 70 IEDs, 1475 electrical non-electrical detonators and half a Kilo gelatin explosive materials were recovered so far during this operation.
