The three-day webcasting programme of Krishi Mela at Pusa, New Delhi at Mon district of Nagaland concluded Mar 21 evening. Krishi Mela is a large gathering of farmers, scientist, policy makers and stakeholders who engage in discussion, participate in live demonstration of various crops, highlight success stories of farmers and interact between farmers and scientist for better income.
The main objective of the program is to reach out to the farmers at the block level through live telecast of the Krishi mela happening in Delhi. The programme would equip farmers and agri-entrepreneur with right technology, access to markets, finance, and also help farmers earn better income. There was a healthy Farmer Scientists interaction Session after every programme to clear doubts. Around 132 farmers and Farmer Friends from different villages, participated in the Programme. The mela was organized by the Agricultural Technology Management Agency, Mon.
Meanwhile, With an objective to encourage more farmers’ participation and also to recognise their efforts towards successfully carrying out the various development activities under Land Resources Department in Kohima district, a farmers’ award cum release of newsletter was held at Ura Academy, Kohima on Mar 22.
Chairman DAN and Co-Convenor PAC, Dr Shürhozelie Liezietsu gave away the awards as the chief guest. Nchyuga Tep from Henbenji village, Tseminyu was awarded the ‘Best Farmer of the Year 2015’ under Integrated Watershed Management Programme, while Khekhrie Self Help Group, SHG of Sechüma village won the Best SHG of the Year 2015. The ‘Micro-Watershed of the Year 2015’ was awarded to Thekrejuma, a small village under Zubza-block with rich forest and rare biodiversity.
