The Government of Nagaland has exempted Value Added Tax (VAT) from projects under Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana for electrification of villages in Nagaland with immediate effect until the formal implementation of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) regime or issue of further amendments, whichever is earlier. An official notification said that the exemption shall be reflected in Schedule-I of the Nagaland Value Added Tax Act, 2005 to replace the existing Projects of Power Department under Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Vidyutikaran Yojana by the Projects of Power Department under Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana (DDUGJY).
Meanwhile, Chief Medical Officer, CMO Dimapur has taken serious note of several unregistered Food Business Operators (FBOs) in Dimapur district who are into manufacturing, storing and selling food articles to consumers. CMO Dr. M. A. Wati has warned that those FOBs who have not registered or obtained food safety license under Food Safety and Standards Act 2006 would be penalized without any further warning, in the interest of the consumers. Dr. Wati further advised consumers to buy food packages that are labeled under FSS (Packaging & labeling) Regulation 2011.
