ProMASS News Bureau: Aug 20, 2016: NEEPCO has been entrusted with implementing Din Dayal Upadhyay Gram Jyoti Yojna (DDUGJY) in South and Sepahijala district of Tripura. Mr Samar Ranjan Biswas, GM of Tripura Project, NEEPCO informed total 24 thousand 568 families in 117 villages under Sepahijala District and 27 thousand 417 families in 82 villages under South Tripura district will be covered under the Yojna. To implement the project, expenditure is pegged at Rs 40 crore 84 lakh in Sepahijala District and Rs 46 crore 87 lakh in South Tripura.
Government of India has decided to electrify remaining 18,452 un-electrified villages within by 01stMay, 2018. The project has been taken on mission mode. It may be noted that total 10,051 Villages Electrified till Aug 16, 2016 under DDUGJY across the country. Out of remaining 8,401 villages, 525 villages are uninhabited. 5,088 villages are to be electrified through grid, 2,595 villages to be electrified through off-grid where grid solutions are out of reach due to geographical barriers and 193 villages are to be electrified by State Government.
