ProMASS News Bureau: AGartala: Sep 18, 2016: A State level Farmers Meet on promotion of Pulses will be held at Pragna Bhavan, Agartala on Sep 19, 2016. Indian Institute of Pulses Research in collaboration with ICAR Research complex for NEH Region, Umiam and Tripura Centre has arranged the programme.
This even is combined with Special Meeting on Promotion of pulses in NEH region which has been organized by ICAR Research complex for NEH Region in collaboration with ICAR-IIPR, Kanpur during Sep 19-20, 2016 at the same venue. State Forest, Rural Development and Election Minister Naresh Jamatia will grace the occasion. About 200 farmers from different part of the State along with Vice Chancellor, Cau, Directors of ICAR institutes, KVK personnel from NER, about 50 pulse scientists and other dignitaries will attend the programme.
On behalf of Research complex for NEH Region, KK Barman informed this in a press release on Sep 17, 2016. Notably, India holds the ubiquitous position as the leading producer, the foremost consumer and also the largest importer of pulses globally. Pulses in India recorded less than 40% growth in production the past 40 years while its per capita availability declined from 60 grams a day in 1950s to 35 grams a day in 2000s.
