Assam Govt to roll out Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana

ProMASS, Nov 01, 2016: The Assam government will roll out the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana from this Rabi season for the benefit of over 5.5 lakh farmers. A wide range of crops, including summer paddy, wheat, potato, sugarcane, rapeseed and mustard will be covered under the scheme, Assistant Director of Agriculture (Crop Insurance and Horticulture) Mowsam Hazarika said. Under the scheme, paddy, jute, black gram and green gram will be covered during the Kharif season next year. For effective rolling out of the scheme, training of Agriculture Department officials and publicity-cum-awareness programmes among the farmers will be organised.
