Agartala: Nov 17, 2016: A high level team of Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) led by Sripriya Rangarajan, Jt Secy, MEA visited the disputed ‘Muhurichar’ in Belonia under South Tripura.  Transfer of chitmahal enclaves between India and Bangladesh was done smoothly. Notably, India and Bangladesh exchanged all the enclaves on July 31 midnight except Muhurichar. Controversies and tensions surrounding Muhurichar are escalating with every passing day.  The purpose of MEA visit is to settle this long-standing dispute. A 8-member team under Joint Secretary of Bangladesh Home Ministry too accompanied Indian MEA. Both the teams inspected the area extensively.

Reliable sources informed, muhurichar controversy will soon be solved. Demarcation of land that will be handed over to Bangladesh has already been done and the MEA team has actually come to physically inspect the sites before finally identifying the areas to be handed over to Bangladesh, sources added. It is also learnt that MuhuriChar dispute will come an end soon and the green signal to this end will be flashed by signing necessary papers in a meeting in Dhaka later on. However, tight lipped about the outcome of this visit, official sources denied sharing any information and no official statement regarding the fate of Muhurichar was issued. Indian MEA team, after inspection, moved to Dhaka for higher level meetings.
