ProMASS, Agartala: Dec 1, 2016: The first payday after demonetization went off smoothly. Belying expecting, smaller number of crowds queued up in banks to withdraw money in Agartala today. Huge rush and long queues were expected in the Main Branch of SBI at Melarmath, Agartala. In the contrary, no such huge rush was observed and people especially Govt employees collected monies without much delay.
“I expected I would have to stand in long queue and it would take whole before I could withdraw money. To my wonder, the queue was normal and I withdrew money rather quickly, said one Subimal Roy of Agartala after coming out of Main Branch of SBI at Melarmath. Though lower denomination notes were available in early hours today in ATMs, in the afternoon only Rs 2000 notes were available in most of the ATMs. Swipe machines installed in the banks did not function for long hours causing inconveniences to commoner.
