Anti-narcotics Unit and Crime Branch of Tripura seized huge quantity of Yaba tablets, heroin and cash from a house located at heart of the City today. Police arrested one person in this connection.
In a joint operation led by anti-narcotic branch of Tripura police department unearthed Yaba tablets, 12 gms Heroin and more than Rs 13 lakh unaccounted cash from a vehicle and a house located at Shantipara in Agartala. The police team also nabbed one person identified as Ratan Saha.
According to the available information, a team of police consisting officers of all the police branches– intelligence, West Tripura district police, South Tripura district police and special branch under the leadership of SP anti-narcotic branch, Saraswati R raided the house of Ratan Saha located at Shantipara area of Agartala. The team launched the operation on Wednesday morning and as per the last information came in the operation was still in progress.
Sources in the police department said, first the vehicle in which the drugs were being suspected to be trafficked, was confiscated from the Tulasibati area of Agartala city. And, then tracing the trail, owner Ratan Saha’s house was raided.
Speaking about the incidence SP Anti-Narcotic branch Saraswati R said, “The operation is still in progress. As of now, we have seized 260 packets of Yaba tablets that roughly contain 52,000 Yaba tablets. Apart from that Rs 13 lakh 86 thousand has been also seized which has no authentic source”.
The SP also said, in course of operation some ID proofs and property documents are also seized and the police is analyzing all the documents to ascertain whether the documents have any links to the drug nexus or not. A small consignment of Brown Sugar is also found at his residence and the police are hopeful of tracking the kingpins associated with this trade using the leads it has got, she said.
