ProMASS: Jan 23, 2017: State Unit of BJP hailed formation of All Tripura Indigenous Regional Party Forum by three tribal based regional Parties like IPFT, INPT and NCT. However, the Party strongly opposed strike call by the Forum in support of protest against Citizenship Amendment Bill, 2016, addressing a Press Conference today in Agartala, President of State BJP, Biplab Deb commented.
Deb further said, BJP welcomed the formation of the Forum as the Forum will be to exert pressure on CPIM in tribal dominated areas. Focusing on Amendment of Citizenship Bill, State Prabhari of BJP Sunil Deodhar said, it is still at nascent stage and a Parliamentary Committee has been set up to examine pros and cons of the Amendment of Citizenship Bill. He also said, the Committee headed by MP Satpal Singh will tour Tripura to discuss about the Amendment with the leaders of the Forum. Having said this Sunil Deodhar commented, resorting to Bandh on February 23 at this juncture is meaningless and it will only help CPIM as well as damage prospect of the Forum.
BJP State Unit President Biplab Deb also alleged about nepotism in identifying beneficiaries under Prime Minister Awas Yojna (PMAY). He said, ruling CPIM has politicised the beneficiary identification process and only a certain section of people are getting benefits depriving genuine and poor people. Having said this, Deb stated, Party has written to the concerned Union Ministers seeking their intervention to this end.
