Jan 30, 2017: Budget session of Assam Assembly will begin today in Dispur. The session will begin with the address of Governor Banwarilal Purohit. Sources said, Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma will present Annual Budget for the next financial year on February 7.

The House will also elect a new Assembly Speaker today replacing Ranjit Das who has already taken over responsibility of State BJP President. On Saturday BJP and its ally finalized and nominated BJP legislator from Jorhat, Hitendra Nath Goswami for Speaker post. He is all set to be the elected unopposed for the post.
