Jan 30, 2017: On the day of Golden Jubilee Celebration AIR Agartala, Governor Tathagata Roy today fondly recalled his love for Radio programmes in the past. He specifically mentioned about once very much popular Radio programme “Anurodher Aashar”.
Amidst fanfare and enthusiasm, Governor Tathagata Roy today inaugurated Golden Jubilee celebration programme of AIR, Agartala Station by lighting up sacred lamp. Urging to bring back the lost attraction of Radio programmes and become a popular medium of entertainment and information, he suggested, to reduce infrastructural costs and to focus on innovative and interesting programmes which will increase revenue collected from advertisement. He expressed hope that FM Radio will become popular and Government will also take necessary step to make AIR more attractive source of entertainment for all section of people. DDG Engineering of AIR, Nelam Singh was also present in the inauguration programme.
Welcoming the guests, Agartala Station Director, In-charge Suchismita Roy said, AIR Agartala started its journey on Jan 26, 1967. The AIR Station was then inaugurated by the erstwhile Chief Minister of Tripura, Late Sachindra Lal Singh. She also said, AIR, Agartala is catering wide spectrum of the society and promoting ethnic culture.
Earlier, a 2-minute silence was observed to pay homage to death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. After the inauguration, first announcer of AIR, Agartala Juthika Basu Bhowmik and budding women footballer of Kanchanpur, Laxmita Reang were felicitated. Governor released a magazine on this occasion. Later several cultural programmes were held by the local artists.
