Feb 10, 2017: Today is the last day for the expiry of the dateline set by Nagaland Tribes Action Committee (NTAC) Kohima and Joint Coordination Committee (JCC) against Chief Minister T R Zeliang to resign on moral grounds.
NTAC Kohima in a release said that dialogues and amicable solution that Chief Minister Zeliang suggests are all over and the only option to bring normalcy to the chaotic situation now depends on his wisdom. The demand is to step down on moral ground from office because this is the only rationality that will ease the loss of lives, injuries and destruction of properties that had taken place as fallout of the TR Zeliang’s cabinet treachery.
The Committee reiterated that the tribal hohos demand is that TR Zeliang steps down from the office of the Chief Minister for causing three deaths, leaving many injured and burning down of several offices. Therefore, NTAC Kohima said it is absurd on the part of TR Zeliang and his cohorts to condone off their crime behind whimsical reasons such as numerical support of MLAs since the issue is not a floor test of the Assembly. The issue at hand is also not a constitutional matter but a plain moral issue of owning it and acting upon it, NTAC Kohima said while cautioning that at the expiry of the dateline, the people of the State will be left with no other option but resort to the most extreme step and the consequences arising out of it will be borne entirely by TR Zeliang and his Cabinet.
